In 2018, TEAL set out to build the network layer nobody realized it needed at the time — running inside the physical AI stack across robotics, energy infrastructure, drones, transportation, video, manufacturing and agriculture. Today, our technology connects any connected device to any data network on Earth — with more native carrier integrations than anyone else in the game.
Here's the premise, stripped to the studs: choice and control over the networks inside machines saves time, money, and headaches. Full stop. We built the platform so businesses stop negotiating carrier by carrier, market by market, contract by contract — and can just start scaling.
The industry's noticed. TEAL's been named by Deloitte as the fastest-growing company in the Pacific Northwest, and we've landed on the Inc. 5000 two years running. But we're just getting started.
Our Story
TEAL started in 2018 when Robby Hamblet and Michael Johnston, Jr. decided eSIM technology needed to finally deliver on its promise: true programmability and neutrality.
Robby had already built some of the world's first SGP.02 eSIM platforms — running white-label connectivity-as-a-service for IoT deployments centered on global connectivity, device management, and edge intelligence for automotive manufacturers. Working with GM, Daimler, and other OEMs, he kept hitting the same wall: automakers had built the network access every global deployment needed — but nobody had built it for everyone else.
Michael had spent his career on the other side of that problem — scaling operations, finance, go-to-market, and fundraising at early-stage and large enterprise companies. Between the two of them, the gap was obvious: someone needed to build the network layer, and someone needed to build the company around it. Which is where TEAL started.
